Nabil Rajab Tweets from Prison

September 4, 2012

The twitter account of Bahraini political prisoner Nabil Rajab, who is currently serving a three year prison sentence for participating in political demonstrations, continues to be active. Rajab continues his cyber activism by tweeting messages directed at the Prime Minister and the King of Bahrain from prison.

Although Rajab has no access to the internet, his friends have continued to post messages to his Twitter account on his behalf. Rajab has managed to leak these messages to them:

Nabil Rajab: The prison will not terrorize me, and it won’t stop me from saying what’s right, even in front of the oppressed ruler. It is not going to stop me in defending my countrymen.

Nabil Rajab: Oh you the king of our homeland, how are you calling on us to be happy? Did you not hear about the mercenary gangs that belong to your regime, how they invaded our villages, and how they stole our money, arrested and tortured our children.

Nabil Rajab: You Khalifa Bin Salman, you neither love the Sunni nor the Shiah, you neither love the Arabs, nor the non-Arabs. You only love your own interests and the interest of the chorus that is surrounding you. Leave so the people of Bahrain can have the mercy.

Nabil Rajab: You Khalifa bin Salman. You have looted, stolen, wronged, oppressed, tyrannized, imprisoned, killed, sabotaged, destroyed, and starved, so now the people are calling on you to leave.
