Biography:
Bahman Ahmadi Amouee born on 1968 in Iran. He studied Economics at the National University of Babolsar. He has worked as a journalist since 1996 and has written extensively on the economic policies in the Islamic Republic of Iran in official papers, including an economics weekly titled Mihan, Hamshahri Daily, and several now banned reformist dailies such as: Jame’e, Tous, Sobhe Emrooz, Khordad, Norooz, Shargh, Vaghaye Etefaghieh, and Sarmayeh. He was editor of the economics section of Sarmayeh Daily. He has also published two books: The Political Economy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and How the Men of the Islamic Republic of Iran became Technocrats.  Bahman has also written extensively on human rights and women’s rights issues on web-based publications.
Goverment Relations:
Amouee is sentenced to serve 5 years in prison. He was arrested with his wife on June 20, 2009, following the disputed presidential elections. He was originally sentenced to serve 7 years and 4 months in prison and 34 lashings, which was reduced in appeals to a 5 year sentence. He is currently serving his 5 year sentence. The main charges against him were in relation to articles he had written critical of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s government, in official papers as well as on his website.
