Biography:

Hamoud is a 28-year-old Saudi Arabian Christian who was arrested in January 2009 for using his blog to discuss his conversion from Islam and to criticize the kingdom's judiciary system. He was released March 28th, 2009 on the grounds that he wouldn't travel outside of Saudi Arabia or appear on the media. He attributed his release to the efforts of the Cairo-based Arab Network for Human Rights Information, though the director of the organization claims they were not responsible and believes Al-Amri was extreme to write about Christianity under an Islamic government.

Goverment Relations:

In 2004 he was detained for nine months and in 2008 for one month where he was tortured with sleep deprivation, solitary confinement, physical torture, and continual insults. He was arrested again in January 2009 and released the following March. He remains isolated from his family and lives alone.
